July, 2017: It was great to meet so many colleagues at the IAGG 2017 World Congress in San Francisco. I presented the paper “Is Age More Than a Number? Essentialist Beliefs About Aging Predict How Young or Old People Feel” co-authored by Anne K. Reitz (New York University).
June, 2017: Sharon Jayson (USA TODAY) talks to David Weiss about the inevitability of aging and why none of us wants to think we’re old.
May, 2017: We just attended the conference of the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology to present some new research findings on the Implications of Generational Metastereotypes for Older Adults at Work. It was nice visiting Ireland and catching up with some old colleagues, and hanging out with the youngest attendee of this year’s EAWOP conference.
April, 2017 (I): Taylar Peoples (MSPH Class of 2017) has spent the last two years working in our lab. Her work and findings are featured in the latest issue of the Mailman School of Public Health “Student Voices” profile.

October, 2016: We’re launching a new study to investigate “Pathways of Age-Stereotype Activation: Identifying Ways to Mitigate the Detrimental Effects of Negative Age Stereotypes on Cardiovascular Health in Later Adulthood” in the Physiology Lab of the Division of Behavioral Medicine, New York State Psychiatric Institute.

August, 2016: Congratulations to Deirdre Robertson. Deirdre will be moving to the Trinity College Dublin, Institute of Neuroscience to start a 2-year fellowship funded by the Irish Research Council titled “Linking Age-Related Stereotypes to Ill-Health: The Role of Reward Seeking Behaviours and Dopamine”. She will be investigating the underlying mechanisms that may explain why negative age-related stereotypes are harmful to older adults’ health.
